The Artificial Intelligence Revolution: A Conversation with Nicolás Seguro, AI Manager at Coderhouse
In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has gone from being a field of study reserved for a few specialists to becoming one of the most influential technologies in the world. From voice recognition on our mobile devices to advanced diagnostic systems in healthcare, AI is transforming industries and redefining the way we live and work.Nicolás Seguro, AI Manager at Coderhouse, watches this change up close. According to him, we're living a true “golden age” of AI. “We've gone from the experimental stage to a phase of massive adoption,” he states, highlighting that artificial intelligence is present in more and more sectors, from technology to the most traditional industries.
The drivers of the advance in AIThe accelerated growth of AI has several causes, among them, access to large amounts of data and the improvement in computing power. However, Nicolás points out that another key factor is the democratization of knowledge. “Nowadays, learning about AI is within reach of more people, which is creating a new generation of experts in the area,” he explains. Educational platforms and online resources let professionals from diverse fields acquire skills related to AI, a trend that only seems to intensify.
AI in education: the case of AI AcademyThe impact of AI on education is a topic that both worries and excites. While AI automates certain processes and revolutionizes the way we work, it also raises the need to train professionals capable of understanding and applying these technologies. That's why Coderhouse has launched AI Academy, its new educational offering focused exclusively on learning artificial intelligence.“With AI Academy, we seek to offer quality training in areas that are in high demand, like machine learning, data processing and automation,” Nicolás points out. The offering is distinguished by its practical and accessible approach, where not only theoretical fundamentals are taught, but students are encouraged to develop real projects. “We believe the best way to learn is by doing,” Nicolás adds, underscoring the importance of working with real cases and tools used in the industry.
AI: from science to creative industriesAlthough AI has traditionally been associated with sectors like technology or science, its impact extends much further. Nicolás observes a rapid adoption of AI in areas like marketing, finance and healthcare, but what draws the most attention is its expansion toward more creative industries, like art and design. “AI is not only transforming industries; it's changing the way we work and learn,” he says. It's not just large corporations that are adopting AI; SMEs and startups are also taking advantage of artificial intelligence-based solutions to improve their processes and optimize decision-making. This access to AI by companies of all sizes is another sign that its impact will keep growing in the coming years. However, this advance raises important ethical questions, especially regarding authorship and copyright in content creation. When generating creative works with AI tools, the dilemma arises of who is the true author: the person who uses the tool or the AI model itself? Nicolás points out that “we're facing unexplored territory in terms of intellectual property.” Concerns about the competition between AI-generated creations and human works are becoming increasingly evident. "It's important that while we advance in the use of these technologies, we also think about policies that protect human creativity and respect artists' rights," he adds.
How to get started in the world of AIFor those who want to get started in the world of artificial intelligence, Nicolás recommends starting with the essentials but without fear of experimenting. "AI is such a broad field that the most important thing is to find an area of interest and start exploring it right away," he suggests. In addition, he highlights the importance of making mistakes and learning from those errors, since it's in that process where the deepest concepts are really assimilated.
